You have access to two environments. Build in sandbox, then move to live using the same endpoints when you are production-ready. Each app has a separate key pair for each environment, both available under Developers → Configuration in the dashboard.

What stays the same

Endpoint paths

/api/v1/wallet/ngn/create is the same path in both environments.

Request and response shapes

The same parameters, the same entity envelope, the same field names.

What changes

Your keys

Sandbox keys only work against sandbox; live keys only against live.

Webhook subscriptions

Subscriptions are per-environment. Re-subscribe after you go live.

Settlement

Live payouts debit your funded Pila balance and reach real bank accounts.

Access

Live requires a verified account. Sandbox is available as soon as you sign up.

Switching over

Keep the base URL and the key in configuration rather than in code, so the move to production is a deploy rather than a rewrite.
Do not commit either file. Load these from your deployment platform’s secret store.

Before you go live

1

Verify your account

Live keys only work once your business has been verified. See Create an app.
2

Fund your Pila wallet

Payouts settle from your balance. See Fund your wallet.
3

Re-subscribe your webhooks

Point webhook subscriptions at your production URL, using your live key.
4

Set your payment PIN and settlement account

Configure these under BaaS settings. See the dashboard guide.
