# Navigating the dashboard

> The patterns that repeat on every screen — the sidebar, the top bar, and the difference between sandbox and live.

The Pila dashboard is where you run your business on Pila. You can check your balance, look up customers and their virtual accounts, follow every naira in and out, send payouts, and see how your integration is behaving.

Every screen shares the same frame: a sidebar on the left for moving between sections, and a top bar showing where you are, which mode you are in, and who is signed in.

## The sidebar

| Sidebar item | What you do there |
| - | - |
| **Overview** | Check balances, your business account details and a monthly chart of money in and out. |
| **Customers** | Find a customer and open their profile, wallets and cards. |
| **Transactions** | Search, filter and export every transaction across your business. |
| **Wallets** | See every virtual account issued to your customers and its balance. |
| **Payouts** | Review transfers out, download receipts and start a new transfer. |
| **Settings** (top) | Payment PIN, charge source, settlement account, credit alerts and support email. |
| **Developers** | API Logs, Configuration (API keys and apps) and Webhooks. |
| **Logs** | Audit logs of what your team did in the dashboard, and export logs. |
| **Settings** (bottom) | Your profile and security, company verification and email notification recipients. |

<Note>
  There are two Settings entries. The one near the top controls how money moves — see [Business settings](/dashboard-guide/home/settings). The one at the bottom holds your personal profile and your company's verification — see [Profile and security](/dashboard-guide/account/profile-security).
</Note>

## The top bar

* **Page title** on the left. Detail screens show the path, for example Wallets > Wallet Detail.
* **Mode badge and switch.** The red SANDBOX badge and the switch beside it show which mode you are in.
* **Account menu** on the right, with your initials, your name and the business you are signed in to.

## Patterns that repeat

These work the same way on most pages, so learning them once covers the whole dashboard.

## Sandbox and live

The dashboard runs in two modes. Sandbox is a safe copy of Pila for testing; live is your production business.

| Mode | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Sandbox** | Uses test data. No real money moves, so you can try transfers and payouts freely. |
| **Live** | Shows real customers and real accounts. Transfers and payouts move real funds. |

Live access opens once your company verification and SLA are complete — see [Company verification](/dashboard-guide/account/company-verification).

To switch, select the switch next to the mode badge in the top bar. Every list, balance, key and log on the page reloads for the other mode.

<Warning>
  **Data does not carry across.** Sandbox and live keep separate records, API keys, webhooks and logs. Check the badge before you make a transfer or change a setting.
</Warning>
